| This presentation will discuss 1) Research Trend of Hurston in Japan, showing some
slides, and 2) Translation Difficulties of Hurston’s Works. One of the components of
Part 1 will be a historical perspective. We will look back on Hurston studies from the
dawn of the research history to recent years in Japan. The other component of Part 1 will
treat a current research trend of Hurston in Japan. Part 2 demonstrates difficulties
inherent in translation into Japanese by examples drawn from Dust Tracks on a Road and
Their Eyes Were Watching God. |
